THIS summer has marked the 50th anniversary of the first Clitheroe Kid radio series, by little Jimmy Clitheroe.
The series ran from July to September in 1957, and went on to run every year until 1972.
At its peak, the show attracted a staggering 10 million listeners.
Now a group of old-time radio enthusiasts are searching for missing episodes from these years, as the BBC has only retained a small selection from the long running comedy.
And they are asking if any readers if they have any shows taped from the radio broadcasts on to cassette to get in touch - they could be the sole surviving copy of such shows.
Enthusiast Derek Boyes, of Scarborough, said: "It would be amazing if we could save this show in its jubilee year."
Derek can be contacted at 29 Main Street, Cayton, Scarborough, North Yorkshire, YO11 3RS. His e-mail address is: thekidhimself@hotmail.co.uk.
