A SALVATION Army-run homeless project has been praised for its work by county council top brass.
Chair of Lancashire County Council Wendy Dwyer said the Crossroads facility in Accrington, which opened in 1992 to help homeless youngsters aged 16 to 25, served as a key investment for the area.
She said: "This facility is very good at supporting these young people and gives them a safe temporary home where they can move forward and build their lives. This is not only an investment for them but also for society as a whole in Accrington and the surrounding area."
The Salvation Army has also announced two new leaders for its division which covers Blackburn.
Majors Mel and Kath Jones were installed at a special ceremony in Manchester, which they will also cover in their new roles. They were previously principal and associate principal at the William Booth College, the Salvation Army's training centre.
