A MAN who admitted handling a stolen laptop which he sold to his girlfriend's dad has been jailed for six months.
Judge Pamela Badley told Warren Hamer: "You have an unenviable record for dishonesty."
Hamer, 28, of Lower Barnes Street, Clayton-le-Moors, denied burglary, and the prosecution accepted his plea to the handling charge.
Hamer has also been recalled to prison after being released on licence from a 30-month sentence imposed for burglary.
Mr Roger Green, prosecuting, told the court the burglary took place in October last year at an address on Lower Barnes Street, Clayton-le-Moors and a laptop was taken.
Several days later Hamer sold the laptop to the father of his then girlfriend for £100.
It was recovered by police a month later and when arrested Hamer said he knew nothing about the burglary and he had been given the laptop to sell. He did not ask where it had come from, but suspected it was stolen.
