A WOMAN who complained about her neighbour's behaviour was confronted by the brother shouting racist abuse.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Asif Mukhtar called Susan Rennie a racist name and said if she wanted trouble he had "people coming."

Mukhtar, 27, of Earl Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to racially aggravated threatening behaviour and resisting a police officer.

He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre-sentence report.

Neil White, prosecuting, said Mrs Rennie had made a complaint to Twin Valley Homes about the behaviour of her neighbour, the defendant's sister.

An officer from the association came to speak to Mrs Rennie and then her neighbour.

"Shortly after the defendant and others attended Mrs Rennie's property and behaved in a very aggressive manner," said Mr White.

Mukhtar demanded to know what Mrs Rennie had been saying and as well as insulting her made an obscene and suggestive gesture.

When police arrived and tried to arrest him he walked off and then struggled violently.

Liz Parker, defending, said the bad feeling between the neighbours had started with the children and unfortunately the adults had taken it on board.

"My client's sister had phoned him and asked for help and unfortunately the situation escalated from there," said Miss Parker.

Three other men, Mohammed Faiz Mukhtar, 36, of Brookhouse Lane, Amir Mukhtar, 26, and Asim Mukhtar, 23, both of Earl Street, all Blackburn, all pleaded not guilty to using threatening behaviour and resisting a police officer.

They were all remanded on bail.
