A DAY out with his best friend came to a heart-breaking end for a 32-year-old man, a court was told.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Carl Robert Waring caught his friend trying to kiss his partner.

In the confrontation that followed the friend admitted they had been having a sexual relationship behind Waring's back.

The girlfriend denied the claim and in a drink and drug fuelled rage Waring armed himself with a knife to try and "scare the truth" out of the pair.

Waring, of Antigua Drive, Lower Darwen, pleaded guilty to affray. He was ordered to do 160 hours unpaid work and pay £60 costs.

Isla Chilton, prosecuting, said the incident took place at the home in Antigua Drive that Waring shared with his partner Louise Baron and happened after he had gone with best friend, Carl Turner, to watch Blackburn Rovers in a pre-season friendly at Preston North End.
