A man who went into an unlocked shed and stole a bag, a drink and a trowel together worth £2.55 has been jailed for 28 days.
Blackburn magistrates heard Brendan Thomas Duff was on prison licence for a burglary offence and was due to be recalled to custody.
Duff, 27, of Shorrock Lane, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to burglary of a shed in the garden of a house in Buncer Lane.
Catherine Allan, prosecuting, said Duff was identified from CCTV footage which showed him entering and leaving the shed.
"He told police he had stolen a laptop though he didn't know where from," said Miss Allan.
"The police have been unable to trace that theft."
Colleen Dickinson-Jones, defending, said Duff had been passing when he saw the shed was open.
