LANCASHIRE County Council has discovered a dormant education trust has cash in its coffers.
Now the authority's Cabinet has been asked to nominate a trustee for the Marsden Heights Educational Foundation on Thursday so the money can be spent on Nelson students.
An officers' report tells senior councillors the foundation, established to assist pupils from the ancient township of Little Marsden (in particular Marsden Heights) had been dormant since deregistration with the Charities Commission in 2009.
It says it has come to light it still has cash at its disposal, but the county and Pendle Borough Council need to appoint trustees to spend it on hard-up students.
