A DARWEN woman who used a stolen bank card to pay for a McDonald's meal has been jailed for 12 weeks.

Blackburn magistrates heard Sarah Healey had not been involved in the theft of the card from a vulnerable, elderly man.

The contactless card was used 25 times before it was cancelled but Healey was only responsible for the one transaction.

Healey, 35, of Perry Street, pleaded guilty to fraud by false representation. She was jailed for four weeks for the offence and a further eight weeks of a suspended prison sentence was activated.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said the owner of the card was walking home from a club when he was approached by two women who walked home with him. They went into his house and while they were there stole his bank card.

From 5 am the card was used to complete 25 fraudulent purchases and CCTV showed Healey was responsible for one of them.

"The police are applying for a criminal behaviour order against the defendant because of concerns about her criminal activities," said Mrs Mann.

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said Healey had fallen into the company of two other women who were using the card.

"She realises she shouldn't have got herself involved but she had been drinking and that clouded her judgement," said Mr Taylor.
