Two teenagers have admitted a £1 million pound arson attack on a Darwen school and been warned that they could face custodial sentences.

The two boys aged 15 and 17 and both from Darwen made their first appearance before Preston crown court and admitted arson on July 14 last year at Darwen Moorland High School.

The blaze happened on the last day of term last year and caused over a £1million worth of damage. It took 13 months to substantially repair the school.

Judge Philip Sycamore adjourned sentence for the preparation of a pre-sentence report by the probation service and also a psychiatric report.

He told them that all options remained open including custody.
