A MAN who was approached by a woman who had been raped at a house is being sought by police.

Detectives are trying to find the man who was stopped by the woman, 28, who ran naked down Accrington Road, Blackburn, at around 8.30am on bank holiday Monday, August 27.

Police said the victim had been badly beaten and raped in a house in Shadsworth.

The woman stopped the man to ask for help, however, he started that he did not have a mobile phone on him to assist her.

The woman then continued running along Accrington Road where she was helped by two women, who brought her to Royal Blackburn Hospital.

Detective sergeant Mark Holland said: "It is important we speak to this man as we think that he is the first person to see the woman following her ordeal.

"We believe that her attacker was known to her.

"If you think you spoke with this woman, please make contact with us at your earliest opportunity."

On Wednesday, August, 29, a 30-year-old man from Blackburn was charged with rape, actual bodily harm and threats to kill in relation to this incident.

Anyone with information should call the police on 101 and quote 369 of August 27.
