A MAN is sought by police after a woman was bitten on the face.

Police want to speak to Tyrone Grant, 23, after a woman's house was broken into in Padiham Road, Burnley, on Wednesday, August 8 at 3am.

Police, who released the appeal today, said the attacker got through a window of the house, broke some items inside and attacked the 21-year-old woman.

Sgt John Bailey said the woman suffered a bruise on her right arm and was bitten on the cheek.

He said: "This incident is particularly frightening as it was unprovoked and happened in the middle of the night whilst children were present.

"I am appealing for Mr Grant to attend the police station immediately so we can get this matter dealt with otherwise we will continue to visit addresses and associates linked to you.

"Grant knows he is wanted and is clearly evading the police.

"If you have seen him or know where he is, please get in touch with us as soon as possible."

Grant is described as white, around 5ft 9ins, of slim build with short curly red hair and brown eyes.

He has a tattoo of the name ‘Sonny’ on the back of his neck.

He has links to Burnley and Padiham as well as Peterborough.
