A MOTHER has been named a community champion after helping to raise £600 for a local charity.

Natasha Jayne, from Colne, has been hailed as an 'unsung heroine' after raising funds for various local good causes, in particular Pendleside Hospice.

She recently took the lead in organising a family fun day at Colne and Nelson Rugby Club, with all proceeds going to the hospice.

Azhar Iqbal of Colne Tyre Centre, himself a community champion and prolific fundraiser for local good causes, paid a warm tribute to Natasha.

He said: “The family fun day was a great success and this was largely due to Natasha. In my eyes, she is a real unsung hero and we need more people like her."

A spokesperson for Pendleside Hospice added: “We are most grateful to Natasha for her fundraising efforts. She is a real treasure, but so humble and modest with it.”
