A THUG was involved in an "unprovoked," gang attack on three people leaving a pub, a court heard.

Katherine Jarrett, 22, of Duke Street, Clayton-le-Moors, was said to have been "psyched up" and to have repeatedly punched a man, Burnley Crown Court was told.

She later told police she had drunk 20 double vodkas.

Jarrett, a convicted ecstasy dealer, had served the equivalent of a five month jail term. She admitted affray and was given 12 months in jail, suspended for two years, with the Think First programme.

Recorder Philip Butler slammed the fracas as "nasty" but said he did not class Jarrett as a dangerous offender.

But he warned her, she could face life behind bars if she appeared in court again.

Sarah Statham, prosec-uting, said Jarrett and a group of men attacked a group of people leaving the Hare and Hounds in Clayton-le-Moors.

Jarrett was the only one before the court and had been picked out perhaps because she was female.
