OVER the last few weeks on TV and in newspapers there has been a lot of news about underage drinking, juvenile nuisance and gun and knife crime.

What is wrong with the youth of today?

Why do they misbehave?

Who is at fault?

Is it parents, schools, or is it the authorities, ie the Government or police?

Well over 90 per cent of young people do not misbehave, you can see that in the annual exam results.

The problem is that the young people of today are growing up in a life of violence on TV, pictures, video games etc.

The actors in popular TV soap programmes such as Coronation Street, Emmerdale and East Enders are all seen to spend most of the time in the local pub.

Even the young man in Coronation Street is seen mouthing off to his mother. What sort of example is that for young viewers?

The people to blame are the adults, the makers and actors in those types of films and videos that promote guns and knife violence for profit.

Advertising of cheap booze should be banned and we should make the parents more responsible for the actions of their children.
