A MAN exposed himself in front of children in a Blackburn park.

The incident, which happened on Sunday morning, was just one of a number of crimes highlighted on social media by police who tweeted about a range of 999 calls received.

Police revealed they were called out to hundreds of incidents across the county.

Lancashire Police’s Control Room started live tweeting tweeting incidents they had been called out to for official emergency services day from 9am.

In Blackburn, a 73-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of exposing himself in front of children in a park.

Police were called to reports of a man who was performing a sex act in front of three children, aged one, two and nine, at Corporation Park at around 11.30am today.

A police spokesman said the man was initially hiding behind a tree before he performed the sex act. 

Officers said the three children were with their father and grandmother at the time of the incident.

Witnesses pointed out the offender, who was still at the park, to officers when they arrived shortly after.

The 73-year-old was then arrested and remains in custody. 

In Burnley, a woman called 999 to say she’d had her phone stolen from her bag in a bar at around 1am.

Police said there had been more than one theft report in Burnley on Saturday night and their Initial Investigation Unit was looking into the incidents.

In Ribble Valley, officers were concerned for the welfare of a pensioner who had gone missing from a care home.

Police launched an appeal to locate an elderly man who was reported missing from a care home in Longridge at around 5.45pm.

The 75-year-old was described as ‘very vulnerable’.

Traffic came to a standstill in Great Harwood after two calves were standing in the road near the Gamecock Inn, on Whalley Road at around 12.30pm.

In Pendle, three boys wearing balaclavas were seen walking around Barrowford.

Police also reported several hoax calls including one person who rang 999 to complain about their school’s inspection report.

Officers said the caller was given a warning and told they would face a fine if they misused the 999 service again.
