TWO friends who both have fathers suffering with cancer have come together to organise a charity sportsman’s dinner with a boxing theme.
Business owners Jonathan Parkinson, director at Duckworth’s Estate Agents, and John Haworth, managing director of Best Destinations Travel Agents, both based in Accrington, are hosting the event alongside business sponsors with an aim to try and raise over £10,000 across three charities.
The black-tie event, which will be put on for 300 guests, will see five ‘white collar’ bouts with 10 people from the local area whose families have all been affected by cancer.
Former WBC World Heavyweight Champion Frank Bruno is the guest speaker and will also be sharing stories from his illustrious boxing career.
An auction will also be held and guests could win signed gloves from World Heavyweight Champions Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury and Frank Bruno. Burnley and Blackburn Rovers shirts will be on offer.
The evening event will be held at the Mercure Dunkenhalgh Hotel, on Blackburn Road, Clayton Le Moors, this Friday (September 14) from 7pm.
If you are interested in attending the event contact Jonathan or John on 01254 234242.
All the funds raised being donated to cancer charity’s Cares, Prostate Cancer UK and The Oliver Welch fund.
