A MAN expressed his thoughts about his ex-partner in an email he sent to her but disguised as a misplaced message to his sister.

Blackburn magistrates heard the message was sent just eight days after Jason Luke Simpson was made subject to a restraining order prohibiting him from contacting his estranged partner and a suspended prison sentence.

Simpson, 28, of Brownhill Avenue, Burnley, pleaded guilty to breach of a restraining order.

He was sentenced to four weeks in prison suspended for 12 months which is additional to the 18-week suspended sentence already in place.

He was also made subject to a community order for 12 months with 35 rehabilitation activity days.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said Simpson appeared in court for harassment on August 16 and was made subject to a suspended sentence and a restraining order which prohibited him from contacting his former partner.

Eight days later she received an e-mail from him which started with the words "His sis."

The message referred to his ex-partner as being his best friend and told how he loved her.

"It purported to be to his sister but was sent to his ex-partner and was clearly meant for her," said Miss Akhtar.

Simon Lloyd, defending, said the e-mail had been his attempt to put the relationship behind him.

"It was one last indication to her of how much she meant to him although it was disguised as a misdirected email to his sister," said Mr Lloyd.
