A WARNING has been issued by police after an abandoned car obstructed a back street.

Police have released a photo of a black vehicle which was left deserted on a street in Pendle.

At the time of seizing the car the fire service had been called to a bin fire just two streets away and police said the vehicle could have delayed the arrival of firefighters to the Pendle address.

Officers called on residents and businesses across the borough to be "considerate" when parking their car.

A police spokesman said: "Please don't abandon your vehicles on the road like this.

"Using this one for an example, it is parked obstructing a back street and part of the road.

"Not only is it inconsiderate to other residents, emergency services i.e fire service, would not be able to assess this back street.

"At the time of seizing this vehicle there was a bin fire only two streets away causing potential damages to property and threat to life, this back street wasn't blocked thankfully, meaning the fire service could act unhindered.

"Don't say you never been warned."
