A CAR fire in the early hours of the morning is being treated as a suspected arson.

Fire crews attended the scene and discovered the car on fire at the side of the road on Kyan Street, Burnley, at around 12.40am today.

Firefighters put out the fire using one hose reel and notified the police of the incident.

It is believed the fire may have been started deliberately an an investigation is now underway.

A fire service spokesman said: “Firefighters from Burnley were called to reports of a car on fire at the side of the road on Kyan Street, Burnley.

“They extinguished the fire using one hose reel and requested the attendance of police at the scene as they believe the fire may have been started deliberately.

“An investigation is now underway.”

The suspected arson is one of a series to happen in recent days.

In Oswaldtwistle, two cars were torched in the early hours of Tuesday morning (September 4).

Crews from Hyndburn discovered a 'well-developed' fire involving the vehicles on Church Street, at around 1.10am.

While last week (August 28), a car was set alight in a suspected arson attack on Wesley Place in Bacup.
