A GREAT Harwood businessman has been hit with a repair bill after vandals broke some windows at his firm.

Mark Wilson of Mark Wilson Properties, posted a message on the Harwood is my Home Town Page appealing for the public’s help in trying to find the culprits for the damage on Curate Street

The 47-year-old said: “I just think it was drunken behaviour but it is going to cost me money.

“The insurance will not pay out for it so I am talking about the best part of £1000 to replace the window.

“There was a business going to be moving in there in the next few weeks. I was just fitting it out for them ready to start but that has been put back.

“It means that I not only am I having to pay out for the damage but I will be losing rent on there.

“I have been told that it would have happened about 3am or 4am on Saturday morning.

“I went to see the damage in the morning and I have heard that Palatine Cafe on Glebe Street also had their windows broken too.”

Mr Wilson, who has been running his business in Great Harwood for more than 20 years, hopes they can find the vandals.

He said: “Nothing was stolen it was just the windows that were broken.

“There are some CCTV cameras across the road from my business which I have spoken to the police about and hopefully they are going to be looking at the footage to see if we can find the people who did it.

“It is such a big problem to me and the money I am going to spend.

“When I posted it on Facebook there were a lot of positive comments from people in Great Harwood and they have said that they hope I can find out who did it.

“It is good when you hear that everyone is behind you and backing you.

“It is such a shame as a lot of money is being put into the area with lots of new shops and then people are doing this.”

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: “It would appear there has been damage to two windows at two firms. A police investigation is ongoing into this incident.”

Anyone with information should call the police quoting LC-20180901-0955.
