CARUS Green golf club is launching a new development programme to encourage would-be players to ‘have a go’.

The beginners golf classes start on September 11 from 6-7pm for ladies and 7-8pm for men at Carus’s Burneside-based golf centre.

Both men and ladies are welcome at the beginners’ classes which will cost just £25 for a six-week course

It’s not the first time that Carus has offered tutelage through the ‘Get into Golf’ initiative, which is aimed at encouraging more people to try the sport.

“We have run these beginners’ programmes before and they have always proved extremely popular and well-attended,” explained director Andrew Pickering.

“Golf has, in the past, held something of an elite reputation and we are attempting to quash that by inspiring anyone – regardless of age, background or experience – to turn up and see how they get on. There’s no pressure to join the club and we even provide equipment.”

The course forms part of Carus’s new and ambitious five-year development programme to train 50 people from a standing-still position, to become golfers.

The scheme will include group and one-on-one coaching, with a membership rate of £100 for four months, if delegates wish to continue their growth.

Applications are now open.
