A SCHOOL has celebrated its students' successes in the latest GCSE examinations.

Results day brought delight for pupils at Castlebrook High School in Bury, with many achieving high standards across the curriculum.

Sue Armstrong, principal at the academy which is part of Shaw Education Trust, said the results demonstrated the high standard of practice being developed at the school.

Mrs Armstrong said: "This year has seen another really encouraging set of results which reflect the outstanding efforts of our teachers and students."

Staff were delighted to share in the many successes of the day, with one student in particular reaching great heights.

Cameron Wybrant proudly earned the title of Castlebrook’s highest achiever after being awarded six grade 9s, two A*s and a grade 8.

Mrs Armstrong said the pupils' results 'are enhanced by the state-of-the-art facilities currently under construction' at the school.

Work started on Castlebrook's new £12 million site in January 2018. A new temporary car park has been built at the front of the existing school, with the new build under way on the playground area in front of the school's all-weather pitch.

Mrs Armstrong said the new build, which is due to open in April 2019, will further develop students' learning experiences, enabling them to access new technologies and improved opportunities.
