A COCKTAIL slushy made by an East Lancashire pub has become a social media hit with people coming from far and wide to try the new drink.

The ‘Bubblicious’ was created by Dawn Brizio at the new Walmesley Arms pub in Great Harwood, and even though its ingredients are secret, it contains bubblegum flavours, gin and sweets to stir some childhood memories.

Photographs of the drink were shared on the pub’s Facebook page, attracting three million views and more than 22,000 comments and reactions.

Dawn’s husband Paddy says they have been amazed by the success of the £4.50 drink.

He said: “We call Dawn the mixologist as she was just playing around trying to create new drinks.

"We posted it last Monday night and overnight it was going mad on Facebook with lots of people commenting and sharing.

“We had people tagging people in Australia saying that they wanted to find out where we are and how they can get to try it.

"They were also asking about the ingredients and recipe but we are not going to giving that up.

“But I think that people liked the pink and blue slushy and then bubblegum fizzy sweets.

“I think it has been so popular because people loved bubblegum when they were kids and they like the thought of having an alcoholic drink with gin in it.

“We have had people coming from Burnley and one man brought his date to try one.

“We also had a candy floss slushy which went well on social media too.”

Former Army man Patrick took over the venue with Dawn this year and they are looking for a bright future.

He said: “We have been in seven months now and we have turned it around compared to how it used to be.

“There is a nice mix for young and older people.

“We had a bouncy castle last week and there are non-alcoholic slushies for kids too as we know it is hard to get a nice family environment in pubs.”
