POLICE have released an appeal after a farmer's dog lost its eye when a cricket ball-sized rock was hurled at its head.

Razzle, a six-year-old Jack Russell belonging to farmer, David Hird, lost her left eye during the horrific incident on the Hulton Park Estate earlier this month.

Now, Greater Manchester Police have issued an appeal for anyone with information to come forward.

Police described the man responsible as white, about 6ft tall, with grey hair and stubble.

A police spokesman said: "This is Razzle the dog.

"At about 3pm on Sunday, August 5, she was attacked in Woodlands Drive, Over Hulton, after an unknown male threw a rock at her resulting in her losing an eye.

"The offender is described as a white male, around 6ft tall with grey hair and stubble. He was wearing a black shirt and black bottoms, and was with a young girl, aged around six.

"The offender was also walking a greyhound type dog which was black or brindle in colour.

"He fled the scene in a silver coloured Mercedes A class with "YB" in the reg."
