A BUS driver was spotted driving through a road closure at a popular music festival.

While thousands of music lovers enjoyed the Great British Rhythm and Blues Festival, a Northern replacement bus was seen driving through a road closure on Albert Road, Colne.

Pendle councillor Joe Cooney said the driver had 'completely ignored' all the signage and barriers and described the incident as 'totally unacceptable'.

Northern have apologised for the incident which happened at around 3pm on Saturday.

Cllr Cooney said: "The entire Albert Road from the Union pub down to the Crown pub was closed.

"There were road closure and advisory signs everywhere.

"A security guard saw a big white Northern Rail replacement bus.

"He was seen getting out of the bus and removing a road sign before going through the road closure.

"When he spoke to the security guard, he said the sat nav had taken him the wrong way.

"Thankfully, the driver didn't go far before he was stopped and redirected but this was dangerous with large crowds at the event."

A Northern spokesman said: “We are sorry to hear about this incident and we will speak to the bus company to ensure it doesn’t happen again.”
