A CAR was set on fire in a suspected arson attack on Thursday night (August 23).
The front of a Ford Focus was 'well alight' when crews reached the scene on Barnes Avenue, Rawtenstall.
Firefighters were called at around 10.30pm and discovered the car ablaze on the roadway.
Fire crews used one hose reel to extinguish the fire and were at the scene for around 30 minutes.
Watch manager Darryl Wood, from Rawtenstall fire station, said the fire has been treated as 'deliberate'.
He said: "A fire engine from Rawtenstall was called to the fire on Thursday night.
"The front of the Ford Focus was well alight when we reached the scene on Barnes Avenue at around 10.30pm.
"We used one hose reel to extinguish the fire.
"There's no obvious cause and with the time of night it happened, which is what makes us think this was a deliberate fire.
"The engine component of the car was damaged and the car had not been used since 6pm that night."
