FIREFIGHTERS helped a young cow which got stuck in a canal.
One crew from Hyndburn were called to the stretch of canal between Whin Lane Farm and Express Gifts off Dunkenhalgh Way at 9.27pm yesterday.
Watch manager Steve Horrocks from Hyndburn said: "We were there for an hour as it was difficult to find and there was not many places to park.
"We had to walk until we came across the cow and then a couple of our swift water rescue team went out to help it.
"The canal has a lot of low banking areas and we were able to guide it to safety."
