A STALKER formed a fixation for a female neighbour and used a bizarre method to get her attention.

Blackburn magistrates heard Adrian Brian Taylor egged the woman’s car to give himself an excuse to go round and apologise.

And after he had been given a harassment warning by police Taylor sat on a hospital fire escape drinking vodka and watching her home.

Taylor, 44, of Garden Street, Accrington, pleaded guilty to stalking. He was made subject to a community order for 12 months with rehabilitation.

He was made subject to a restraining order which prohibits him from contacting the victim, going within two metres of her house or touching her car.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said the harassment warning was issued after several egging incidents following which Taylor had turned up on the victim’s doorstep and apologised.

On another occasion he came to her house and she described him as rambling.

“He told her he fancied her and wanted to sort things out,” said Mr Robinson.

Ben Leech, defending, said it was clear his client had mental health issues.

“It would appear he has misread the signs,” said Mr Leech.

“He formed the opinion she may be attracted to him.”

He said after the harassment warning Taylor had climbed the fire escape at Accrington Victoria Hospital and sat there drinking vodka and watching the woman’s house.

“It could be he was giving himself Dutch courage before he went and knocked on her door again,” said Mr Leech.
