ULVERSTON'S Otters took to the water again, this time with a 24 strong squad who took part in the Kendal’s Annual Mint Gala.

They enjoyed huge success coming away with a whole clutch of medals.

Leading light was 13 year old Brodie Scales who took six Gold Medals and a Silver.

His success in winning the 100 Individual Medley set him up for a brilliant performance for the rest of the Meet.

His 50 and 100 Backstroke were outstanding, especially the 1:12.48 he recorded for the 100 in which he pulled out a clear lead of 4secs for the win.

His sprinting was a class display on how to dominate a race and he held off rivals for another win. Turning to Butterfly he had another perfect win over 50m , but had to settle for Silver in the 100.

Finishing his programme with Freestyle he showed remarkable talent combined with fine technique to take the Gold at both 50 and 100.

Alix Knagg, having a break from the U.S.A. also took six Gold Medals. In superb form she blew the opposition away.

With four sprint events over 50m she produced immaculate performances full of power and controlled aggression to take Golds in all four races.

She then set the pace and secured further victories in the 100 Breaststroke and 100 Individual Medley.

The highly experienced Indya Sharp was another on top form and gave her usual power house display at sprinting. Over 50m she was supreme taking Gold at 50 Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly and then followed up with a Bronze at 50 Freestyle.

To complete her score she gave an immaculate all round performance in the 100 Individual Medley, where she set the pace and dominated throughout race, dealing with every challenge and timed her finish to perfection to grab another well earned Gold.

Two other Otters, 10-year-old Maisie Scales and 15-year-old Alex Thompson both won four Gold medals each.

Scales was to put in unbeatable performances to snatch victories in the 50 Backstroke and 50 Breaststroke. She completed a double by taking the 100 Breaststroke and then blazed her way to the win in the 100 Individual Medley.

A hard swim at 50 Butterfly completed her day with a Bronze medal. Thompson secured solid victories opening his account with a brilliant performance in the 100 Individual Medley.

He too showed remarkable sprinting prowess with wins for 50 Backstroke and 50 Freestyle.

He then turned on the style making a double at 100 Backstroke and 100 Individual. More Gold medals also went to Tom Robinson (Butterfly/ Breaststroke), Ethan Alpress (Backstroke/Freestyle) and Phillip Crayston (Backstroke/Breaststroke) who completed the double with magnificent swims and well judged finishes.

Malachy Kennedy (Backstroke), Anna Morrison (Butterfly and Daniel Jesson (Backstroke) all won a single Gold medal each and also collected a number of minor medals with good solid swims.

To complete a highly successful Meet for the Otters, Orianne Sharp, Grace Weaver, Annabel Crayston, Evie McMullen, Jack McMullen, Louis Jones, Adrian Lee Chong and Marley Griffiths, all came away with minor place medals.
