A MAN armed with an axe along with two other men robbed a convenience store in Blackburn.

Police are appealing for information after Nilus Mini Market in Livesey Branch Road was robbed of cigarettes on Sunday, August 5, at around 5.20pm.

A police spokesman said four men went to the store, but only three went inside.

One of the men produced an axe and demanded money from a member of staff.

Two other men walked behind the counter took a quantity of cigarettes.

The man with the axe tried to open the till but was unsuccessful, the men were then chased out of the shop.

Detective constable Rhiannon Cosgrove said: "It is important that we trace these men and so if you think you know who they are or you have any information at all that could help our investigation, please get in touch."

A 17-year-old boy from Blackburn was arrested in relation to this incident and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
