A FORMER bank could be turned into a cafe.
Fitzgerald Planning and Design has submitted a proposal to Burnley Council to convert the former Barclays bank in Padiham into a cafe.
The main bank hall would remain 'untouched' while the cellar would be used as a possible storage for the cafe or drinking space with possible kitchen.
Two full time and three part-time jobs would also be created.
The Grade II listed building was first built in 1893 and was designed by William Dent of Nelson.
The Craven Bank occupied the site followed by the Mercantile Bank of Lancashire before being taken over by Barclays Bank.
A spokesman for the applicant said: "The proposed site would be convenient, accessible and prominent within the town centre where an active use for restaurant/bar and would bring a former bank back into use."
A decision will be made at a future meeting of Burnley's development control meeting.
