A HOSPITAL boss has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship.

Kevin McGee, chief executive of East Lancashire Hospitals Trust, has received the accolade from the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).

Each year UCLan bestows a number of Honorary Fellowships to a wide range of people as part of the university’s degree and award ceremonies.

Mr McGee received his award in acknowledgement of the significant contribution he has made to the development of the University’s School of Medicine through the instrumental strategic support provided to the trust's partnership with UCLan.

Through the partnership work and Mr McGee's continued support, UCLan has become the key provider of healthcare graduates for the region.

Mr McGee spoke of his delight at receiving the award and thanked UCLan.

He said: “I was truly humbled to receive the award and to be a part of the graduation ceremony.

"I would like to thank to UCLan - it means a lot.

"Our partnership is incredibly important and I am glad to see the University, its Health Faculty and now its Medical School, grow from strength to strength.”
