A NEW manager is looking to 'bring the glory days' back to a village pub.

Beckie Cassidy has taken over as manager of the Bay Horse Hotel in Baxenden after several years of working in the bar industry.

She has spent the last several few working at the Victoria Hotel in Manchester Road in Accrington and is now looking forward to taking control of a pub.

The 24-year-old is keen to bring her new ideas to the pub and but has also been having some advice from people involved with the pubs long history.

Miss Cassidy said: "I've been looking to take the ideas of the customers on board to make it as popular as possible.

"I've had one customer come to me whose family used to run the pub hundreds of years ago.

"It's been great to hear about the history of the place from them.

"People have stopped coming to the pub in recent times, we want to bring the glory days back and make it a really welcoming place.

"The plan is to give it a real family feel, and get the whole village coming along.

"I'm feeling confident, I'm really looking forward to the challenge."

This is the first time she has taken sole management of a pub, and said there is a new menu coming soon.

She will also be looking to bring the pool table back to the Manchester Road pub, due to popular demand from customers and posts on social media.

There are also plans to have a revamp of the furniture and to look at making the pub dog friendly.

The pub has had several landlords over the past couple of years and Miss Cassidy is now looking to bring some stability to the pub.

She said: "The plan is to make a really good go of it at the pub.

"We want to make it somewhere you can bring the children, somewhere that everyone can come to.

"There's been several landlords here over the past several years, we want to bring it back to its best."

Cllr Terry Hurn, who represents the area on Hyndburn Council, said: "It can only be good news for the area.

"I wish the new manager all the best, having a good community pub is a great thing with all that's going on in the world.

"A good manager will bring some stability to the pub."
