A MAN who was given a 'final chance' by magistrates blew it the very next day.

Blackburn magistrates heard Sajid Hussain, who admitted stealing to fund his drug addict, was made subject to a community order for shoplifting on July 2, fined for similar offences on July 11 and given a suspended prison sentence for shoplifting on July 13.

The next day he was shoplifting again and went on to commit four more offences in the space of two days before he was detained.

And the magistrates backed up their final chance ultimatum by sentencing him to 10 weeks in prison.

Hussain, 29, of Dearden Gate Croft, Haslingden, pleaded guilty to three charges of stealing meat from the Co-op, attempted theft from Asda and possession of cannabis.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said Hussain was already banned from the Co-op. When he was detained by staff at Asda he became abusive.

Catherine Fell, defending, said her client was realistic about what was going to happen to him.

"His drug addiction has got out of control and that is why he is stealing," she said.
