A WOMAN woke in her own bed to find her partner, who she had kicked out after a row the night before, standing over her.

Blackburn magistrates heard Martin Daniel Golden pinned his girlfriend down by the throat and then dragged her by her hair.

A glass table was smashed during the incident and as he left Golden slammed the front door causing further damage.

Golden, 29, of High Street, Rishton, pleaded guilty to assault and criminal damage.

He was fined £318 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £31 victim surcharge.

Rachael Parker, prosecuting, said during the row the night before Golden had thrown her phone across the room causing it to break.

She ran across the road to the Walmsley Arms because she was scared.

"When she went home he was still there and she asked him to leave, which he did," said Miss Parker.

"She woke the following morning to find him standing over her."

Miss Parker said the victim had confirmed that Golden had repaired the door, given her money for the table and replaced the phone.

"She doesn't want a restraining order as they intend to get back together," she added.

Simon Farnsworth, defending, said the couple were back together within a day of him leaving the police station and she had come to court to support him.
