A LARGE wildfire has broken out in Oswaldtwistle today.
The fire happened on Oswaldtwistle moors at the wind farm at about 2.45pm.
Three crews from Hyndburn, Rawtenstall and Blackburn attended the moor fire on Haslingden Old Road.
Firefighters used two hose reels and beaters to tackle the fire and were helped by a farmer with a water bowser.
The fire is now out, although two crews from Colne and Clitheroe will be at the scene for a few hours dampening down.
Hyndburn fire station said on Facebook earlier: "Currently there is a moorland fire on going on Oswaldtwistle moors at the wind farms.
"Three crews are in attendance and working hard to bring the fire under control."
It comes after firefighters from across the country have spent the last few weeks tackling huge moor fires in Saddleworth Moor in Tameside and Winter Hill in Bolton.
