ACCRINGTON town centre was decorated full of colour to celebrate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953.
Flower beds took the place of the market stalls in the town while bunting was put up around the town.
At the start of June people packed into Accrington to mark the occasion and chairs were brought out for the elderly, while others perched on stepladders.
Later, the mayor, Cllr Grace Rothwell, planted a weeping birch in front of Oakhill Park mansion.
Celebrations took place across the Commonwealth realms to mark the occasion and it was the first British coronation to be fully televised.
The front of Accrington Market Hall has undergone a number of changes in recent years, with a £2million renovation of the town square currently taking place.
Some residents were upset in February last year when work on the scheme meant two large horse chestnut trees outside the market hall, which had previously stood for around 50 years, were chopped down.
Once completed later this year the new town square will feature benches honouring the history of the town and the Accrington Pals battalion and will be looking to hold major events in the area.
The official opening of the completed town square is pencilled in for November this year.
