POLICE believe a body found in the grounds of an army barracks is that of missing soldier Jordan Corcoran.

Officers said a man's body was found following joint army and police searches in a wooded area on the Weeton Camp site on The Fylde this evening.

And although no formal identification has taken place police believe it is that of Mr Corcoran.

The 28-year-old, who had friends in Blackburn, was last seen at the Weeton Camp on Singleton Road shortly before midnight on Tuesday, July 3.

Chf Insp Lee Wilson said: “Mr Corcoran’s family has been informed and both Lancashire Police and the Army have specially trained officers offering them support at this extremely sad and difficult time. Our thoughts remain with them.

“I would like to offer my thanks and condolences to our colleagues in the Army who assisted us greatly with the searches and in particular Jordan’s friends.”

The death is not being treated as suspicious and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.

A file has been passed onto the coroner.
