A ROMANIAN man ended up assaulting his host and fellow countryman during a house party.

Blackburn magistrates heard Valentin Cernet punched the other man after he screamed at him to leave, knocking out a tooth.

Cernet, 20, of Higher Reedley Road, Brierfield, pleaded guilty to assaulting Mihai-Gabriel Ivanov causing him actual bodily harm.

He was sentenced to 18 weeks in prison suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay £1,000 compensation, £85 costs and £115 victim surcharge.

Parveen Akhtar, prosecuting, said both men had been drinking when they had a falling out at the party.

The aggrieved was screaming at Cernet to leave when he punched him several times.

She said the aggrieved's lip was split right through and a tooth came out from the root.

Colleen Dickinson-Jones, defending, said both men had been drinking heavily.
