A MAN has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body at a house in Nelson.
Atif Muhmood, 38, of Bankhouse Road, Nelson has this afternoon been charged and will appear before Blackburn magistrates accused of murdering Christopher Moore tomorrow morning.
Police were called by the ambulance service around 10pm on June 20 to reports of a sudden death in Derby Street.
Officers attended and the body of 45-year-old Mr Moore was found at the scene.
The death was initially treated as non-suspicious, but following further investigation and a Home Office post mortem, Mr Moore was found to have suffered a number of injuries.
Muhmood was arrested on Monday and following consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service he has now been charged with murder.
Police are continuing to support Mr Moore’s family, who said they had been left devastated by his death.
