HUNDREDS of people descended on an Accrington park in 1992 for a music festival.
Revellers soaked up the August sun at Oak Hill Park as they listened to the sounds of local acts, with RS Sound taking the stage in this picture.
The event has become a favourite for the people of Hyndburn, with activities for children as well as the music.
The history of the estate is an interesting one.
The Oak Hill estate dates back to the middle of the 18th Century and belonged to the Woodward Family.
In 1815 the land was leased and subsequently purchased by Thomas Hargreaves, head of the Broad Oak Print Works. The present mansion was built soon after the purchase of the land.
In 1889 the estate belonged to Reginald Gervis Hargreaves, who was married to Alice Liddell, the model for Lewis Carroll’s ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
