A SIR Cliff Richard superfan got a huge surprise when she got a message from the superstar singer.

Pauline Martin, 70, from Blackburn, is a patient in Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and has a cut-out of the Bachelor Boy next to her bed.

But to make her feel better, staff and family members sent out a plea on social media asking for Cliff to send a video message to his biggest fan,.

The Facebook post had over 1,000 shares from people hoping to make Pauline’s dream come true with the hashtag #FindCliff.

And there were Congratulations all round when Sir Cliff, who has sold 250 million records worldwide, responded.

Pauline, who has been to over 100 of Cliff’s concerts, was overjoyed to hear the pop legend’s personal message from his own Lucky Lips.

He said: “Hi Pauline, I hear you have a cardboard cut-out of me by your bed which I am absolutely thrilled about.

"Thank you for supporting me, I love you.”

Staff nurse Lucy Morris and healthcare assistant Lucy Mason came up with the idea of finding Sir Cliff for Pauline after seeing her cardboard cut-out and talking with her about her Cliff Richard memorabilia.

Lucy Morris said: “We both said wouldn’t it be lovely if we could get him to send her a message. And then we spoke to her family and they loved the idea – so we just went for it!

“All the staff were in tears when we finally showed Pauline the message. She hasn’t stopped watching it since! Her family are made up.”

Pauline was Wired for Sound and shown the message at her bedside on an iPad surrounded by her family and nursing staff:.

“I just can’t believe it,” Pauline said.
