A NURSERY has been rated as 'inadequate' across the board after its first Ofsted inspection.

Inspectors found Victoria's Nursery in Burnley Road, Padiham, was failing in the effectiveness of the leadership and management and quality of teaching, learning and assessment.

It was also rated 'inadequate' for personal development, behaviour and welfare and for outcomes for children.

In her report, Ofsted inspector Stephanie Nixon, said: "The weaknesses in leadership and poor organisation of staffing are limiting the progress children, with the exception of babies, could be making."

But staff in the baby room of the nursery were praised by inspectors, who said they 'know the babies in their care well.'

Inspectors said this meant babies care needs are met, which 'promotes their emotional wellbeing'.

The nursery's owner Kerry Driver said she has lodged a complaint against Ofsted regarding the report.

She said: "We are a new nursery and while we accept there are improvements that need to be made there are factual inaccuracies in the report. "I have made an official complaint about the inspection and the inspector regarding the incorrect information contained in the report."
