A STUDENT from Burnley is in hospital being treated for a fractured jaw after a serious assault.
The attack took place in Keswick in the early hours of Sunday and has prompted a police appeal for witnesses.
It happened near the ambulance station in Penrith Road, at around 1.45am, when a group of six young men were attacked by up to 10 people.
The 20-year-old suffered a fractured jaw in two places which will require surgery.
A police spokesman said: "This was a serious incident and we would ask anybody who saw anything, or heard about it subsequently, to get in touch."
