The rural regeneration company, Pennine Prospects, has been awarded £50,000 by the Heritage Lottery.
The announcement has been welcomed by the chairwoman Pamel Warhurst, a former chairwoman of Calderdale MBC who owns the Bear cafe in Rochdale Road, Todmorden, and lives in the town.
She said: "This is fantastic news for the south Pennines.
"It will help us to work up an exciting programme of projects with our partners."
