SHOPPERS got a glimpse of the 'Crown Jewels' at the Mall.
The valuable replicas, used in big budget films and TV shows such as The Crown, were on display at the Peter Jackson jewellery store yesterday.
Replicas of St Edward's Crown, the Imperial State Crown, Queen Mary’s Crown, the George IV Diadem, Queen Victoria’s Crown, the Cambridge Lovers Knot Tiara, and the Spencer Tiara were all on display at the jewellers store.
The Spencer Tiara, belonging to the late Princess Diana’s family, was the one she wore on her wedding day.
It is the only crown in the collection that is privately owned and the original has not been seen in public since Princess Diana last wore it in 1997.
Pupils from St Stephen's Tockholes CE Primary School were among visitors to the store.
Teacher Julie Moss said: “We were asked if we wanted to enter a competition to make a crown and these pupils won.
“It’s been very interesting and the children found it exciting.”
Shopper Yvonne Richmond, an avid fan of the Royals, said: “They’re absolutely beautiful. I read about it in the paper, and my son used to work at Peter Jackson’s years ago, so I wanted to come to see them.”
