THE former Texaco garage in the centre of Darwen is to be demolished and, temporarily, the land may be used for free car parking.
Long-term plans for the site, just north of the town centre, include retail, commerce or mixed use.
Blackburn with Darwen councillor Alan Cottam, executive member for regeneration, said: "This site is an eyesore. Its location is a gateway into Darwen and we want to make it as attractive and useful as we can, at minimal cost."
