THREE people have been fined after repeatedly failing to put their household rubbish in a wheelie bin.
The prosecutions by Hyndburn Council come after the Accrington residents left bin bags on the street for collection instead of in the wheelie bin provided.
Ann Marie Simpson of, Monk Street, Tracey Ashworth, of Hyndburn Street, and Gary Kay of Knotwood Court, were convicted in their absence at court and fined.
They must each pay a £150 fine as well as £245 legal and investigation costs.
Council regeneration boss Coun Peter Clarke said: "If people keep on putting out bags of rubbish instead of using the wheelie bins, our enforcement officers will carry out an investigation and where appropriate serve a notice.
"This case will send a warning to others who fail to manage their waste properly. We want neater streets across the borough and we are prepared to go to court if people persistently offend in this way."
