POLICE were called to assist a vulnerable elderly man who was seen walking naked in the street.

Officers were called to the junction of Saunders Road and Preston New Road in Blackburn shortly after 7am where they found the man, who is believed to have left his care home, and was in a state of confusion.

A police spokesman said they had also received several reports of the man walking around a petrol station in a state of confusion before he was seen in the street.

The spokesman said: “He is old and in distress and believed to have come from a home for the elderly.

“We received several calls about an elderly man walking around Morrisons petrol station naked. He was then seen stopping traffic at the junction of Saunders Road.

“A patrol was sent to assist him.”
