THE amount of takeaways in Blackburn is often a source of criticism.
Yet when you need to grab a quick tea, they are most welcome.
Darwen Street is known as the town's takeaway hub. Been there, done that.
So I stretched my legs with a walk up to Big Brothers.
It looks a touch out of place in the middle of a cobbled street alongside a toy store, bookmakers, camera shop and dry cleaners.
Big Brothers' menu offers the customary choice of pizzas in three sizes, plus kebabs and burgers.
I went for a nine-inch vegetarian pizza costing £3.60 and a £1 portion of chips.
The pizza base was thin and tasty, while there was lots of finely-chopped and crisp pieces of mushroom, peppers and onion under a well-blended cheese and tomato topping.
A generous portion of thin chips proved the perfect side order.
All in all it was well worth the walk.
